PROPEL = Passionate Rational Objectivists Promoting Exuberant Living(TM)!

The topic for this month's meeting is "The Age of Envy". If you can, pick up the book The New Left: The Anti-Industrial Revolution by Rand. It's actually a compilation of short essays she wrote in the 1960's and 70's. The ninth essay in the book is "The Age of Envy", but the whole book is very short. We will focus on the concepts in the "Envy" essay. I think you will find them very timely.

For those of you who are seeing this meetup for the first time, I think it's important you understand that this is not a political action group, although politics does get discussed along with many other topics.

The main focus is the philosophy itself and how it is expressed in Rand's work. People come to meet and discuss Rand's philosophy and want to know more.

If you really want to understand what happens at these book discussions, I must go to a great quote from Ayn Rand which appears in the introduction to the 25th anniversary edition of The Fountainhead:

"It does not matter that only a few in each generation will grasp and achieve the full reality of man's proper stature--and that the rest will betray it. It is those few that move the world and give life its meaning--and it is those few that I have always sought to address."

Our group is an outlet for people who are interested in Rand's ideas, and want a forum to share their perspectives with a receptive audience.
