Meet other local fans of author Ayn Rand and her philosophy of Objectivism -- a philosophy of Reason, Purpose and Self-Esteem that holds human life on this Earth as the standard of all values and *your* life as an end in itself.
For those new to Ayn Rand and her ideas, she was born in Russia in 1905, and moved to the United States in the Twenties. She published "The Fountainhead" in 1943 and "Atlas Shrugged" in 1957. Both books have been in print continuously and have sold millions of copies worldwide. They are currently available as Penguin Modern Classics. Both deal with the theme of an individual battling for expression in a conformist tradition- worshipping society. The Fountainhead in particular is an excellent read purely as a novel, and the first chapter can be read on www.devonshirelodge.org.
Ayn Rand went on later to found a philosophy called Objectivism.
Our group plans to meet up socially once or twice each month in Central London and we would be equally pleased to hear from newcomers and those already familiar with Ayn Rand's ideas. Richard the organiser can be contacted on 01253 626268.
